Children's and Youth Book Day: learn to enjoy family reading

You know, today double in terms of celebrations, and my particular way of celebrating International Children's and Youth Book Day is remembering all those entries that can make us reflect on our role (that of mothers and fathers) promoting reading at home. At the very least, I hope to be useful when collecting these tips.

Yes, I must have said it a hundred times here, but the main reasons (although we do not always make them explicit) that we have to bring children closer to reading are that reading is a pleasure (which many children consider a form of leisure in itself ), and that accompanies the studies in a positive way. So it will be good for us to know what to do if we are interested in our son understand children's literature as an ally. First, it is very important to accept that when we are convinced that books are fun, it would make no sense to force them to read, readings would be bad for them, and they would hate literature for a long time. In addition they already have to read in an imposed way in school, they do not need more pressure, so in case of more reluctant children, or children who are not so much and have lost interest; we must force ourselves to continue facilitating access.

How does this translate? You will see: that suddenly you do not want to read does not mean that we cannot continue to bring you books from the library, or that we should not buy you an adventure novel for your birthday, or that we do not ask you to accompany us to The bookstore to buy a gift for someone else. If on top of that we read, and there are books at home, we have part of the work done.

And now let's continue: it is common to give advice to accompany the reading habit of children, even with more specific content for preteen children. However, there are so many families who spend a little time at night to share readings, which is also important to focus on this issue. Do you know how to feed the reading routine before your children go to bed? Also - why not? We can encourage this healthy habit by building a reading corner at home.

We go from reading to books: those classmates who don't get tired of teaching us different worlds, curious characters; that rejoice us with their magic, and delight us with their illustrations. Do you want to know why it is better for your children to choose the ones they like best? And although the answer is yes: would you like to have some guidance to choose content? If you have also answered yes, it could be that - in addition - you will be interested in this entry on topics for children over eight years old.

Now I come to the end with much more specific recommendations, and no less interesting: You should know that for children it is also enriching to read newspapers (or did you think not?). And surely there is nothing wrong with discovering that reading and technology can go together, you just need to know how to make them compatible. And know? If you are not a father but a teacher, this will interest you.

I only wish a very happy International Children's and Youth Book Day, and a no less happy family readings.
