France wants to ban children's beauty contests (and I applaud it)

With the firm intention to stand up to the hypersexualization of childhood of which many girls and boys are being victims, adopting a role that does not match their age, France wants to ban children's beauty contests.

Apparently the contests of minimisses they would have the days counted in that country if finally the Parliament votes in favor of the proposal that prohibits beauty contests in which children under 16 participate. Which, of course, I applaud.

In the blog we have echoed some news related to model girls, billionaire girls with just six years for their beauty, and other similar atrocities, many products of a pattern of hypersexualization that is received from advertising and the media.

The sad thing is that there are parents convinced that they are doing good to their daughters by encouraging them to participate in competitions where the most beautiful, the friendliest, the most stylish, the most blonde, and endless “the most” are chosen .

But the disastrous combination of entrepreneurs who only want to do business and parents with a false concept of what it means to fulfill a child's dream, have made girls of few years become sexual icons with postures and clothes of femme fatales That is not going at all with his age.

It is a mistake to value children for their physical appearance, especially when they are not aware of it. For girls it is still a game, the problem is the parents who allow it. And the injured end up being them.

As noted by senator and former minister Chantal Jouanno, promoter of the project:

“Let's not let our girls believe since they were little that they are not worth more than their appearance. Let's not let the commercial interest win over the social interest ”

In France, a dozen such contests were held every year, which may be banned very soon. In the case of non-compliance, a severe penalty of up to two years in jail and a fine of 30,000 euros is proposed.

We hope that other countries such as the United States, a mecca for this type of event, and some countries in South America, where the competitions of minimisses They are the order of the day.
