What do we do with the colecho in summer?

It seems that after a month of June that has passed without sorrow or glory, summer is here to stay. It is already getting hot and every day it is harder to fall asleep, the heat is now added to the day-to-day concerns.

On those nights when it seems that everything is left over, the pajamas, the sheet, the pillow, we do not stop sweating and spinning trying to sleep at least a few hours, those days the question arises, What do we do with the colecho in summer?

Let's be honest, the children are true walking stoves. A baby can have a certain pass, because being so small and as they almost do not move we can place it so that it does not give us so much heat, but an older child is already something different. Like us, they are also affected by high temperatures and if on a normal night they already move from one corner to another of the bed, on a hot night our bed may look like a flamenco tablao.

What options we have?

I will assume that we want to continue sleeping together and that the only problem here is due to the high night temperatures.

Sleep shifts on the couch or another bed: I suppose that more than one night and two we will have had to spend it outside our bed. This time they will be "a few days" and to avoid reaching September as Quasimodo, we can take turns at night, as long as possible (that is another story).

Move your child to another bed once he has fallen asleep:

It is usually a good option for those children who do not usually wake up during the night or who accept sleeping alone even if they prefer to sleep with dad and mom. We can take advantage when the child is deeply asleep to pass him to his bed or cradle and thus sleep all a little cooler.

Add a colecho cradle

The cribs for colecho or sidecar cots are always a good solution for those who do not have a large bed. They are cradles that can be attached to our bed so that they are at the same height allowing us and our son to have our space.

Air conditioning and babies

It is clear that it is the system that best cools the nights, but many people prefer not to have it on all night and if you sleep with small children in the room it can cause them problems if the cold air jet hits them directly and better not to sleep because of the heat than for a sick child.

If our child is in the room it will be better to wrap him in a stronger pajamas or watch that he is always covered and that he never gives him the air flow directly.

If we put on the air an hour before bedtime we can have a pleasant temperature at least during the first hours, which will be enough to fall asleep.
