My son was threatened with that at school, or, at least, they threatened his most moved classmates. If you misbehave you will be punished to the babies class. They were three and four years old.
And in fact, they did. They were sent to a classroom of younger children telling them that since they didn't know how to behave as older they would be there until the teacher decided. They even sang a little song "Baby boy, pacifier and crib."
I fear that it is not an isolated event, I have been told by many parents of other schools over the years, some shocked, others satisfied by the great bad behavior control method of the kids. But punishment is not a good educational method.
I assure you that the school where I took my son enjoys an excellent reputation in the area, even appears in the listings as one of the best in Spain.
He told me, although it took time, he told me that he did not know then that it was to be mean to the children, that he was too small to be able to do the analysis.
When I went to ask for explanations they told me that they had a very respectful code. Surprise, first that the child would have invented it, then that it was not a punishment if not a way to separate the child who did not do his homework to calm down and that of course there were no threats or humiliating songs. Interestingly, although nobody sang the song, all the children knew it.
Infant teachers with no more resources than those or the thinking chair to help a three-year-old child adapt to routines that are possibly too rigid for their maturational age. Has it happened to you that in your children's school send those who "misbehave" to the class of the little ones?
