Weekend activities: collecting tree leaves with children

The arrival of autumn is welcomed by the little ones with real fascination. See the streets of our city covered with dry leaves, step on them, make them creak between their fingers or take one of each color home ... it seems that children find a seasonal playmate in the trees.

For those of us who are lucky enough to have wooded areas close to home, going out to collect leaves on weekends becomes a fun, economical activity that does not require a deployment of media or prior preparation.

You just have to carry a basket or bag and comfortable shoes and eager to walk and enjoy a day outdoors. If you approach some mountain or forest away from home, it would be advisable to also bring water, some food that gives you energy and a raincoat or umbrella in case it rains, in addition to warm clothes.

Music under your feet

A ideal activity for children who already have a blind autonomy of movement, since the funniest thing is to run around, jump and make the leaves creak under your feet.

In the basket we deposit those special sheets for their color, size, shape or texture, until they have a wide and varied selection that will serve us for the development of other activities in family.

Once at home, we can extend the leaves to dry and classify them according to their final utility.

Whole or chopped

We can keep them in a notebook by way of herbal or chop them with your hands, mix the bits and use them to design a collage on paper or cardboard, which we can enrich using other materials that we have to recycle. Here the kids can also participate, especially in the task of chopping the leaves; They love the sound they make when they break and the rough texture, it is worth observing their faces.

An activity that links them from an early age to nature and develops all their senses.
