Optimistic future for one of the smallest babies in the world

When we hear about the survival of great premature babies, we often wonder what the future of these babies will be like, the consequences that will remain in their lives if they move forward. There are also doubts, but there is optimism, regarding one of the smallest babies in the world who has already left the hospital.

After being born with a weight of 0.29 kilograms 16 weeks ahead of schedule and staying almost five months in a hospital, he has been discharged and doctors are very optimistic about the development of the baby, which according to world records is the Third smallest baby in the world.

They are also realistic and point out that this case is a small miracle, which cannot always be expected to occur. The results of the brain scan done two weeks ago to the baby, Melinda, look normal and the medical team is “cautiously optimistic about how the baby was developing”.

So, unlike many babies who die without leaving the hospital in the neonatal units, this girl has managed to overcome all the difficulties and doctors see that “she will not have any major health or development problems, although possibly smaller than average".

The biggest concern they have at the moment is the neurological progress the baby has. The doctors are attentive in case at some point they have trouble walking and talking.

On the other hand, and of course, the baby's parents say they are happy to take their daughter home. The mother points out that "I have come every night to feed her, put her to bed and create a bond with her."

Hopefully this girl who has come forward being one of the smallest in the world at birth follow the path of other "miracle babies", such as the smallest baby registered so far, Rumaisa Rahman, who was born in 2004 and currently can even attend school.
