Reasons that lead women to freeze their eggs

The age at which a woman can consider preserving fertility is from the age of 35, and some do so by freezing or vitrifying eggs. But, What moves a woman to freeze her eggs?

Now there is a study that focuses on these cases and provides interesting conclusions about it. In Belgium it is found that more than half of the women who opt for egg freezing do so to get rid of the pressure of finding the right partner. Specifically, 53.3% of women who opt for this technique.

On the other hand, 26.7% of these women do have a partner but prefer to consolidate their relationship before seeking offspring.

The results arise after interviewing a group of women with a high educational level, economic stability and with an average age just above the 38 years that they had requested to freeze their eggs.

Another research carried out by the Center for Reproductive Medicine in Leeds (United Kingdom), shows that working women put their professional career before motherhood, and we have already seen that many young women resort to vitrification for their work.

The truth is that the advances in the technique to make the possibility of delaying maternity feasible seem to me correct, I cannot get into the priorities that each person establishes in their life. Although I believe that if our society were organized in another way and valued more what maternity and birth means, these cases would not be so frequent.

What does not seem so good to me is that a woman, how old she is, is pressured by her surroundings because she has no partner.

The approach of maternity for these women who have not found the right partner also happens, according to the study, for being a single mother using the sperm of a donor (46.7% of women have thought so) and 26.7 % have considered adoption or running out of children.

I sense that all these options will also be viewed with some suspicion on many occasions by the environment of women, who will press in some way or another. Sad that everyone cannot freely choose their approach to life and motherhood.

In any case, the reasons that lead a woman to freeze her eggs to preserve fertility they are important, but what I would emphasize is that your desire for motherhood can be realized, sooner or later, by artificial techniques or in a natural way, reality. And that your environment is not who to get in your way.
