Almost real babies for therapeutic purposes

Reborn babies are dolls created with great disability and detail, so much so that they are exact reproductions of a newborn baby with the difference that they do not cry or dirty diapers. Their resemblance is so impressive that they have been given a very special use, not only as a toy. They have created these almost real babies for therapeutic purposes.

Her hair, her skin, all parts of the body, and even her gestures and weight are identical to that of a real baby. Therefore, they begin to be used as a therapy for people who have not had children or have lost one, for autistic people and in nursing homes, as we can see in the video above.

The elderly say that it is like having a real baby in their arms and that they are happy to take care of these "grandchildren", even if they are latex.

The reborn babies (in English "voler a nacer"), of which we have already spoken in the blog, have become very fashionable in recent years, going beyond the concept of toy to become true works of art. They weigh 3 kilos, carry authentic hair and their manufacture takes approximately one month of handicraft work.

In the United States, one of these babies can cost more than 30,000 euros. In Spain they do not reach those figures but they are not cheap either, they can cost 5,000 euros. They are considered collector's pieces and are delivered with an adoption certificate showing the name and date of birth.

The truth is that its incredible resemblance to a real baby produces a calming effect on people becoming a new tool for therapeutic purposes.

The use of them as therapy for people who have lost a child seems at least disturbing. However, its use with elderly people, as we see in this case, seems to be a very positive stimulus.
