The beautiful video of a two-year-old boy with Down syndrome, singing with his older sister

From time to time, social networks bring us beautiful and unique moments that are lived between brothers, and that remind us of the strong and loving bond that exists between them.

Recently, this reminder has come to us through a video in which a girl and her two-year-old brother with Down Syndrome appear, singing together while she plays the guitar, and definitely, it has stolen our hearts.

Bo is a two-year-old boy who has Down Syndrome, and with his arrival, he came to transform the whole family with the immense love he shows them day by day. A few days ago, her mother Amanda shared on her Facebook profile a video where we see Bo and his older sister Lydia, singing 'You are my sunshine', a beautiful song that many mothers usually sing as a babysitter to their babies.

In the video, Lydia and Bo are sitting on the floor of their house. She is playing the guitar and singing, while Bo accompanies her gently dancing while sitting next to her. At certain times, she is silent when the words that Bo has learned, neither more nor less, than thanks to music arrive.

My daughter Lydia was taking care of Bo while I took a shower. I go out and find this. If she didn't have a guitar, I don't know if she would know how to take care of him. This is the way he always does it. It is the proof that music therapy works. Bo is 25 months old and has a vocabulary of 12 words. Every word he has learned has been through music and singing”, Says the mother in the message that accompanies the video.

In less than two days, the video has more than 22.5 million views, shared more than 600,000 times and, of course, thousands and thousands of positive comments, leaving his appreciation and admiration for both Lydia and Bo, highlighting the beautiful bond that exists between them.

It's not just any song for Bo

Bo's parents are musicians and in addition to defending and supporting to raise awareness about Down Syndrome, they firmly believe that music is an excellent therapy for children like Bo. A few months ago, Bo had to undergo delicate heart surgery and things quickly got complicated.

"He was one of the sickest children on the west coast", his mother mentions in another post where he tells why 'You are my sunshine' is so special for the family. Bo He remained hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit for months, receiving respiratory and cardiac support through extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, which is usually used in patients who have severely damaged lungs and heart.

After weeks of anguish, parents sought ways to have authorization to introduce a guitar to the room Bo. The doctors agreed, then they had been told that despite not being able to respond physically, their little baby could still hear them.

They chose to sing to him 'You are my sunshine', since in addition to being a very tender song, her parents had been rehearsing it for some of their concerts, while Amanda held Bo in her arms. So the song was definitely not anyone, since little Bo had already heard them perform it together.

With the help of a nurse, they recorded a video and when they started singing, Bo reacted for the first time since he had been placed in intensive care, thanks to which he recognized the music and the voices of his parents, when singing that beautiful song, with which he had delighted in the nights before his surgery.

Bo's parents are not wrong: it is proven that music therapy is effective for the recovery of babies hospitalized in intensive care. For the family, Bo is a baby who has proven to have a lot of strength and of course, a huge heart full of love for each member of his family.
