We are in the year 50 before Jesus Christ. All Gaul is occupied by the Romans ... All? Do not! A small village to the north and populated by irreducible Gauls still resists the invader. Do you know which village it is? Indeed! We refer to the small village where a clever and shrewd little gallo with large yellow mustaches and a helmet with wings lives: Asterix.
You will surely be reminded of numerous adventures illustrated in comics that have accompanied you during your life, and that has recently had its cinematic version with flesh and blood actors, but the essence of the character remains its animated form. Therefore, in our special we want to talk about one of the best children's films: "the twelve tests of Astérix".
"The twelve tests of Asterix" ("Les douze travaux d'Astérix"), originally released in 1976, is an animated film for the whole family written and directed by the original creators of the adventures of the little Gallic: René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, and is the first film of the Idéfix Studios, as well as those that It was not based on any of the books.
What counts
The film does not take to Rome during the year 50 B.C. Emperor Julius Caesar no longer knows what to do against the small gala village that resists being conquered and that makes each of the legions he sends to try to invade them completely defeated. He decides to approach himself in person and talk to Abraracúrcix, the village chief.
Upon arrival, and seeing that it is impossible for him to speak privately with the boss because the entire town comes out to receive him, he proposes a deal: if they are able to pass twelve tests that only the gods could pass, César will recognize his divinity and declare himself defeated; but if they fail in only one of the tests, they must submit to their power.
The two chosen to carry out the tests that Julio César has prepared are the small but cunning Astérix and his best friend Obélix, both accompanied by his loyal puppy: Ideafix. They will also be joined by the impartial Caius Pupus, a peculiar little man who will be in charge of guiding our protagonists in this great adventure that will decide the future of the small gala village.
The twelve tests that Astérix and Obélix will have to face are the most diverse: from a race with a Greek champion to spending a night in a ghost Roman camp, going through having to finish a slightly eccentric chef's menu or perform a "mere administrative procedure". Will our heroes be able to overcome each and every one of them?

This adventure means being able to live on the move everything we could see on paper and thanks to our imagination. Being able to hear the voice of Asterix and Obelix, or see what happens when they take the magic potion makes us sketch a smile and say: "So I imagined it was."
It is a film that preserves the essence of comics, where we could find moments of action, but also situations of humor and even, for parents, criticisms of the society in which we live. So, I would highlight the originality of the twelve tests what our friends have to go through, since they are not simple jobs that make us have a good time, but also make us think and reflect on various things.
Personally, the test that I like the most and that makes me laugh the most is that they have to hold the unsustainable look of Iris, the Egyptian hypnotist. In addition to showing a clear reference to the fact that many times better than strength, the conversation between the two is the funniest part of the adventure.
Values transmitted by "The twelve tests of Asterix"
Something that is always present in the adventures of the small Frenchman and his friends is the difference between the main couple. Astérix and Obélix, faithful friends, represent different points of view of the same situation. While one is serious, intelligent, skilled, cunning and only uses force when necessary, the other represents the opposite, reaching a balance between the two and respecting themselves as they are.
This is something important since the resolution of the twelve tests will be carried out in some situations thanks to the intelligence and cunning of Asterix, and in others through the brute force of Obelix or the magic potion of Panorámix, druid of the village.
Both in this movie and in the rest of them or in the printed stories, violence is represented in a comic way, where the big blows and the numerous mamporros (generally to the Roman soldiers, which I have to admit that they end up giving me a little grief for how they always end ...), there are never dead, although there are clear signs of having received from what cute, like purple eyes and torn clothes.

This film represents a great work of humor that you should not miss. And if you have already done so, now is the time to bring your children the adventures of this little Frenchman who makes the enjoyment of young and old.
Although aimed primarily at children, after three or four years, the elders will also find some reference addressed to us. In addition, Astérix will always wake up in us that nostalgic side that will make us remember when we traveled all over the world, in the comics, accompanying these two nice Gauls.
